Alan Wong, Partner
Alan worked for many years as a General Counsel and senior in-house counsel, and knows the daily challenges faced by company founders, engineering and product teams, and in-house counsel. He advises and supports technology companies on a wide range of matters, including contract negotiations, technology development and licensing, contractor services, supply chain and manufacturing relationships, branding and marketing, distribution and sales, strategic collaborations, non-disclosure agreements, due diligence for acquisitions, intellectual property disputes, and privacy issues.
Alan was General Counsel at Beceem Communications (a 4G wireless semiconductor company acquired by Broadcom) and senior in-house counsel at NVIDIA Corporation, and was a corporate securities, technology licensing and litigation attorney in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices of Coudert Brothers, Pennie & Edmonds, and Pillsbury Madison & Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop). He also served overseas as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Foreign Service.
As General Counsel at Beceem Communications, Alan was responsible for all legal aspects of the company’s strategy and operations, including technology development and licensing, manufacturing, intellectual property protection, sales, marketing, human resources, real estate, litigation, compliance, international matters, and filing for initial public offering.
As senior in-house counsel at NVIDIA, Alan negotiated major sales, marketing, technology licensing, and chip fabrication agreements; handled the legal establishment and operation of large-scale R&D centers in China, India and Russia; supported sales operations throughout Asia, Europe and Latin America; completed strategic acquisitions in the U.S. and Asia; managed patent litigation; and advised on human resources, privacy, export controls, internal investigations, and IT security issues.
Extensive overseas experience working in China, Japan and India, and on Europe, Taiwan, Korea and Latin America matters; as a U.S. Foreign Service officer, was posted to India and Japan; prior Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
